Yes, it's THAT big of a deal...

But heck...there are times where even I am guilty of it too...

As a matter of fact, it happened this past weekend, but not how you might think...

This past weekend I was shopping around for a projector to install in our media room and as I sat in front of my computer scrolling through all the potential options (there are a lot) I began to feel overwhelmed...

I needed an expert opinion...

So my wife and I headed over to Best Buy and met up with the guys in the home theater department...

I began to share with him all of the things I knew (big mistake, but more on that in a minute) and the rep recommended that I set up an appointment for an in-home consultation...

The Day of The In-Home Consultation

So on the day of the home consult, I decided to take a different approach, and instead of telling him everything I knew (or assuming I knew everything), I let him walk me through what the best options would be for me...

As I sat there listening to him, I was in awe of just how simple his recommendations were...

Buy this...set this up over there...change this...

So simple...

That's what experts do...they show you the shortest path to your end goal, because they have the experience to point you in the right direction...

Not to mention, that's also the main reason why you hire them...to get RESULTS!

So what's the number one mistake investors make?

Not hiring an EXPERT to help them get the results they desire...

So if hiring an expert is the shortest path to reaching their goals, then why don't they hire them right away? I mean wouldn't that make sense?

Here's the problem...

...they think they know it all...

...they think they have to do it all...

...they think they have to research everything themselves...

...they feel a need to show and tell the expert how much they know...

I have news for you my friend, all of the above things are literally weapons of mass destruction to your success...

This is why, when it comes to business, when I hire an expert I focus on being incredibly coachable. I understand that the reason I am hiring an expert in the first place is because... I don't know what they know, but I want to...

So why did I do it when researching the projector?

Sometimes our subconscious mind tries to sabotage our success...

Mine is guilty of this too...

Has yours been sabotaging your success?

Hopefully not...but if it has been then it's not too late to change and do something about it...

You need to, as the bible says, take every thought captive.

See I realized that by hiring an expert I could save MASSIVE amounts of time researching, acting on the wrong things, buying the wrong things, and overall cut the time in half it takes me to accomplish the goals in front of me.

So what was the end result?

I ended up having to return the majority of the items I bought and do a re-order of the recommendations from the in-home consultant....so in short, I created more work for myself. 🤦

How To Make Sure You Learn As Much as Possible From Your Expert...

When you hit a roadblock and you are not what to do next, the only research you should do is find the person who has overcome that roadblock...and hire them.

Don't spend hours researching anything else as it won't produce the results you need.

Here's how to make sure you get as much value as possible from your expert:

1.) Stay coachable

2.) Don't be quick to share all that you know...JUST LISTEN.
(After all, you are hiring this person because you don't know it all)

3.) Take all of their advice and IMPLEMENT IT right away. The longer you delay from instruction to implementation only prolongs your desired end result.

All of these things have been helpful to me and I hope they are helpful to you too. Here's to your success!
